The southern hemisphere narrow-line seyfert 1 infrared survey

چکیده
We present a near-infrared spectroscopic survey of narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies in the southern hemisphere (using SOFI instrument on ESO-NTT telescope), sampled from optical surveys. examine kinematics broad-line region, probed by emission line width hydrogen (Pa$\alpha$ and H$\beta$). observed 57 objects, which we could firmly measure Pa$\alpha$ 49 cases. find that single Lorentzian fit (preferred theoretical grounds) is preferred over multi-component Gaussian fits to profiles; lack region emission, overwhelmed pole-on view broad (BLR) light, supports this. recompute catalog black hole (BH) mass estimates, using values FWHM luminosity H$\beta$, both re-fitted values. relationship slope greater than unity compared ascribe this contamination galactic light or difficulties with flux measurements. However, comparison masses computed fitted measurements show close unity. Comparing BH estimated widths fluxes shows deviations expected; general, however, are comparable. posit scenario where an intermixture dusty dust-free clouds (or alternately structured atmosphere) differentially absorbs radiation BLR, due dust absorption bound-free absorption.

Infrared Fe Ii Emission in Narrow-line Seyfert 1 Galaxies
We obtained 0.8-2.4 µm spectra at a resolution of 320 km s −1 of four narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies in order to study the near-infrared properties of these objects. We focus on the analysis of the Fe II emission in that region and the kinematics of the low-ionization broad lines. We show that the 1µm Fe II lines (λ9997, λ10501, λ10863 and λ11126) are the strongest Fe II lines in the observed i...
متن کاملThe Narrow-line Region of Seyfert Galaxies: Narrow-line Seyfert 1s versus Broad-line Seyfert 1s
It is known that the spectral energy distribution (SED) of the nuclear radiation of narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies (NLS1s) has different shapes with respect to that of ordinary broad-line Seyfert 1 galaxies (BLS1s), particularly in wavelengths of X-ray. This may cause some differences in the ionization degree and the temperature of gas in narrow-line regions (NLRs) between NLS1s and BLS1s. This...
متن کامل[ O III ] emission line in narrow - line Seyfert 1 galaxies
Three sets of two-component profiles are used to simultaneously model the [O III]λλ4959, 5007 and Hβ lines for the Fe II-subtracted spectra of 149 narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies (NLSls) from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). Using the linewidth of the narrow/core component of [O III]λ5007 to trace the stellar velocity dispersion instead of using the total linewidth of [O III]λ5007, we found ...
متن کاملNew Insights Into The Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 Phenomenon
I briefly review the X/UV absorber models and show that the observations of NLS1s are generally consistent with the models. The covering factor of absorbers in NLS1s is likely to be high and there is some evidence of super-solar metallicities. I argue that NLS1s may be active galaxies in the early stage of their evolution and as such, may be low luminosity, low redshift analogues of the high re...
متن کاملThe Central Engines of Narrow-line Seyfert 1 Galaxies
It has been suggested that narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies (NLS1s) are evolutionarily young objects, powered by accretion onto central black holes that are significantly lower in mass than those found in typical broad-line Seyfert galaxies. We explore this hypothesis through the analysis of high spatial resolution, near-IR imaging data. By employing the correlation between black hole mass and ho...
